Today was our farewell Rapallo lunch at Le due Querce, a restaurant recommended by my friend Ginny.  It is spectacularly located at the top of the mountain in neighboring Zoagli.  We’ve had the reservation for over a week and were surprised when we arrived to find that we were the sole diners.  Fortunately, the staff seemed unfazed by this….we had our pick of tables and were treated to a delicious meal, all the while enjoying the magnificent view of Rapallo, Santa Margherita, the tip of Portofino and the Ligurian Sea.

With my baby brother ….

Our lunch was quite good…..Carol and Thad ordered steak au poive and I had grilled scampi….we shared an order of french fries and they weren’t bad!

My gorgeous scampi!

We splurged and had cappuccino and dessert….a pancake with ice cream and apple “pie” (really cake) a la mode….both excellent!

Dessert!  Two eyes or two breasts on the left?!?!

The restaurant is located right next to a church…..S. Ambrogio.  We went in and were impressed…another large and ornate church for tiny Zoagli.

Love the “halo” of delicate chandeliers….

We had taken a taxi up to the restaurant (over an hour walk straight UP).  But decided to walk back into Rapallo….a steep descent that took about 30 minutes.  Carol and I changed into shorts and sneakers and walked into Santa Margherita and back….gotta log at least 10,000 steps every day…a goal we’ve achieved for the most part.  Got back to the apartment around 7:00, and were blown away by the unbelievable sky….

Never will I tire of these views from Carol’s terrace!  Beautiful end to a beautiful stay in Rapallo…..tomorrow Paris!
