Baie des Anges–St. Barth’s

Best kept secret….a lovely, affordable hotel located right on Flamands Beach in St. Barth’s. Baie des Anges is family owned and has only 10-rooms.  We’ve been going there in January for the past 3 years, and this is what I should be looking at right now.

Alas I am snowbound and on crutches with a broken ankle.  Trip had to be canceled.  But wanted to share with you nonetheless, our “find” of a hotel in paradise!  We always stay in a “deluxe” room that has a nice big outdoor terrace.  But all rooms have king beds, air conditioning and a small outdoor kitchenette with micro, oven, mini fridge and 2 burners.  Pretty basic, but my husband likes to cook and loves shopping for wonderful French ingredients.  So we have most meals “in,” which saves lots of money and we’re not much for the packed celebrity restaurant crowd anyway.  What we enjoy is the beach.

The hotel has a restaurant (La Langouste) with tables arranged around the pool.  Grilled lobster is their specialty.

A word about the ambience….because it is family owned and managed, service is very personal.  Last year, I had lots of work to do (we tend to go just before the NYIGF…not the best timing for me!) and needed 24/7 access to the internet.  Madame Ange and her daughter made sure I had all the right transformers and outlets to be fully accessible 24/7.

But the very best thing about Baie des Anges is it’s location on Flamands Beach….this is toe in the sand living….walk out your door, down a small flight of steps and your toes are in the sand….heaven and just a slice of paradise!
